After four years, Graze hosts release party for final issue

CHICAGO—Since October 2011, Graze magazine has served as Chicago’s premiere food-oriented literary magazine, releasing seven print issues that have sold thousands of copies across over 60 retailers in the U.S. Casting itself as the bookish cousin to more traditional recipe- and food-porn-filled publications, this square-shaped magazine hosted poetry, fiction, essays, a play, and accompanying art focused on food narratives.

On Saturday, Nov. 7, fans of and contributors to the magazine will say farewell to the green-and-black-hued journal at Fizz Bar & Grill (3220 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago) from 8-11 p.m.

“It's been a delightful and fulfilling four years full of good food, incredible literature, inspiring art,” said Cyndi Fecher, co-founder and publisher of the magazine. “We’re so proud of the work we’ve done.”

In addition to the print publication, which earned spots on many Chicago-area bookstore shelves, Graze also hosted a series of community events designed to allow area food-lovers and literature-lovers to connect.

Issue eight features 11 writers tackling questions around love and identity. Artists get their share of the spotlight too: issue eight intern Olivia Park brought on several fellow artists from Rhode Island School of Design to create independent works as well as illustrative art to complement the written pieces.

“It’s been wonderful to work with so many talented writers and artists over the years and especially this last issue. We can’t wait for you to read this final installment of the magazine—and of course, we can’t wait to celebrate with you at the final release party,” said Fecher.

Much like its previous release parties, the Nov. 9 event will feature to-be-announced live bands, food from Fizz and other Chicago-area providers, and beverages from Aquanaut Brewing, Krombacher, North Coast Brewing, Letherbee Gin, and more.
